A Little Bit Odd

What if my husband died?
What if my husband gone and never came back?
What if my husband married with another woman?
What if my husband divorce me?
I would live alone,
That is why I want to be a tough woman
who is always ready anytime if anything happened
I can live alone, earn money by myself
for me and my children
without depending on my husband anymore....

Drug Abuse

Nowadays, people are influenced doing something against the rule. Something that can make them happy and relax for some people who have addicted to “something.” The “something” is drugs. People involve in drug abuse as a user and a supplier. There are some things that government can do in reducing drug abuse: tighten the security in every field, affirm the punishment for the people doing drug abuse, and do unannounced examination of drugs by police in public places.
When the security is tightened in every field, the use of drug can reduce. Because police always control people in every field so that they will know what people are actually doing. People will not have a chance to use or supply drugs.
By affirming the punishment, people will think more whether they will involve in drug abuse or not. For example, government put death punishment into effect, then people will try to avoid involving in drug abuse.
Police have to do unannounced examination of drugs as often as they can. For example, police do the examination in pub, restaurant, bar, cinema, etc. By doing this way, people who use or supply drugs will soon be arrested.
In brief, involving drug abuse is against the rule and we have to realize that it is a criminal action so that we had better avoid it. Government play role in reducing the use of drug. They can do some policies to be applied in nowadays, considering that drug abuse acts violently and arbitrarily.

Values

Stacey Marrie Symons is a pretty fat girl who lived in Adelaide, South Australia. She is studying Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia in Universitas Sanata Dharma. She has been here for about 6 weeks. She has studied Bahasa Indonesia before and she decided to continue studying it in Indonesia. She has been to Bali, Lombok, and Surabaya.
Stacey means the formly established, smiling and energetic, a radiant disposition and dazzling smile, cheerful, happy, and bubbly. This name is from Latin. There is an interesting story about the name “Stacey”. When her mother was pregnant, she saw a pretty blonde girl playing in a garden. She payed attention so much in her. She heard that the girl was called by her mother. “Stacey, Stacey!” That is the name of the blonde girl. And finally, she was given a name Stacey. Symons is an Irish name. Stacey’s ancestors are from Irish who came to Australia in 1874.
According to Stacey, when we are trying to make a friend and start the conversation with someone we don’t know, we shouldn’t ask impolite questions. For instance, in Australia, it is impolite to ask about the age of someone older or younger than us. But it is fine to ask the children. Besides, it is impolite to ask about the price of something. For example, someone has a lovely new handphone and then I ask, “What a lovely hadphone it is! How much does it cost?”
In approaching someone, we should ask polite questions. For example, we are in a station waiting for the train, we are just alone and we want to make a friend with someone sitting next to us, we can start the conversation with asking about the weather (“It is going to rain, I think”), the time (“What time is it now?”), the next train (“When is the next train?”), the thing they are doing (he/she is reading a book, we can say, “It seems that you are reading an interesting book. What is it about?”). The most important thing to remember is that we always have to say, “Excuse me!” in approaching people.

Sunday Morning 1998

It was Sunday morning on September. Everybody was busy with their works as well as my mother. She did not even talk to me, she was busy talking to people in phone. It was in my own house but I did not know what they were doing. They were all busy in decorating my house. My grandmother looked so depressed but she also did the same thing, busy with the work, tidying up a room, preparing some stuff, and so on. I was 8 years old at that time and my brother was 6 years old. We were just together all the time, questioning adults’ actions. Actually, I did not pay any attention in adults’ business. I was a child and sometimes children never understood adults’ business and their ways of thinking. Until one time, I heard they mentioned my father’s name. They said that he had gone away. So what? My father went away often, why did they make it into a trouble? I just ignored them and kept playing with my beloved brother. I thought that they would stop their useless actions. A moment later, an ambulance came and I have just realized that the funeral would be held.

Nasionalisme

Profil Narasumber
Nama : Bima Slamet Raharja, S.S., M.A
Pekerjaan : Dosen Sastra Nusantara, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Gadjah Mada
