English Accents

I prepared anything to face sociolinguistics mid-term exam today. I studied hard last night though it was an open-book exam. One of many things that I studied was about accent and dialect. People are mistaken in differing accent with dialect. I searched for some sources in the internet, I read it and directly I became understand of the source that said about accent and dialect. Here, I want to give a brief explanation that accent is simply about how people pronounce words differently. It has something to do with pronunciation. Dialect is the different way of the use of language distinguished by pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. Accent can be said as a part of dialect. Talking about accent and dialect, today my friends and I were visited by a lecture from India. She gave a lecture on African-American Women Writers in American Studies class. I did not really concentrate to what things she was delivering. I preferred to observe how Indian speaks English. Basically, she spoke English clearly but the Indian accent was still heard strongly. I was excited in identifying this phenomenon since I did not really understand what accent and dialect were in reality. So far I only learned it in writing form; I never tried to observe accent and dialect that were practiced orally. Observing the way she spoke reminded me of another lecturer who still has his accent strongly. He is my lecturer in Italian class. Italians always keep the hard sound in the end of every single word. Fabio, the lecturer, always speaks English with Italian accent and still keeps the hard sound in every word he says. I am probably right about what accent is. If you read this writing and know that I am wrong, please tell me! 
